There’s cause for celebration in BUD this week as we recognise the achievement of founder and CEO, Georgina Wilson, in being nominated as a finalist for the C.Hub Best Community Leader Award 2017. It is always important to have your achievements and hard work recognised so we know how much this means to Georgina.
Georgina was nominated for all the hard work she’s done over the past few years, striving to develop new ways to engage with and improve communities all over the UK. Georgina has collaborated with a range of social enterprises around London such as Streetworks Norwood 2 Tulse Hill, where she directly engaged with a range of community members to so that their vision of how they see their community space evolving over time was heard and understood. Georgina also devised and implemented strategies to empower the community to turn this vision into a reality – something that is happening right now!
Other collaborations include Twist on Station Rise (a community-minded food and accessory market), Tulse Hill Forum, Norwood Forum and Station to Station (West Norwood and Tulse Hill Business Improvement District).
Clearly Georgina’s work over these past years has been been overwhelmingly focussed on making a difference to local communities; she has led change by empowering others and we’re proud of how much she has contributed to this goal.
Best of luck at the award ceremony later this month, Georgina – we’re sure you’ll have a good speech ready! Thank you to C.Hub for recognising what we’ve known for a long time. And, of course, congratulations to every finalist nominated for an award, you’ve all worked hard to get here and deserve a night to celebrate that!
